Scientia Sport Horses

Evidence-led breeding. Welfare-first development.

Breeding athletic sport horses with the potential for serious sport — using pedigree, performance, development and science to make better decisions, while raising them as horses first.

Northamptonshire, United Kingdom

The Scientia Difference

Not science as a label. Science as a method.

Every mating begins with a hypothesis. Every young horse adds evidence. Every decision can change when the evidence changes.

For us, evidence-led breeding means looking beyond a famous name on a pedigree. We use verified family performance, progeny records, conformation, movement, temperament, health and development — and we keep separate what is known, what we observe, what we infer and what is still uncertain.

Science does not make breeding predictable. It gives us a better way to think.

Finlay

A granddaughter of legendary Irish jumping sire Cruising, Finlay pairs serious international bloodlines with a temperament that rewards patience and kindness.

Our Featured Mares

The mares create the hypothesis. The youngstock tests it.

Our foundation mares bring different kinds of evidence: proven progeny, performance families, production history and qualities we can observe in the mare herself.

The next generation is where those decisions become testable.

Lottie

Six foals down and still setting the standard, Lottie carries some of European breeding's most influential bloodlines, Landgraf I, Wolfgang, Moltke I, in a mare built with real depth, power and a ground-covering canter to match. Meet the herd's undisputed matriarch.

Frankie

A Regional Futurity Champion, a Burghley Young Event Horse qualifier, affiliated dressage winners, Frankie's offspring are already proving what she can produce. Meet the mare with the results to back it up.

Five Interacting Systems

GENETICS. MICROBIOME. ENVIRONMENT. TRAINING. LUCK

Good outcomes do not come from one thing. Genes act within a body; that body develops within an environment; the horse learns through experience; the gut is a living microbial ecosystem; and biological variation never disappears.

Our programme looks at those influences together rather than pretending one pedigree, supplement, training method or measurement can explain the whole horse.

Scientia Sport Horses combines selective acquisition, carefully planned breeding and evidence-led development. Some horses join the programme as youngstock; others are bred through matings selected by Scientia. All are followed closely through growth, behaviour, movement, health and training.

Follow The Evidence

A breeding programme should become more accountable with every generation.

Petra, Venus and future Scientia foals will build dated records of movement, development, independent assessment and later, sport.

Where our interpretation changes, we will say.
